Dusty Rhodes
This song was inspired by my love of wrestling. In addition to Ric Flair and Hulk Hogan, Dusty Rhodes was one of my favorite wrestlers. He was different than the rest. He was not full of muscles. He was not the fastest or the smartest. But like Hacksaw Jim Duggan he was the one with the most heart who could pull through at the end. While the song really has nothing to do with wrestling or Dusty Rhodes, his character symbolized America. He was known and the American Dream. I wrote this during the Trump years in the White House. It’s really a Marvin Gay infused type of song asking, “What’s going on?”
